THE REMAKE
|
Ben Murphy and Pete Duel in Alias Smith and Jones.
It all started more than ten years ago when I began watching a rerun of an American western-series on TV called Alias Smith and Jones, which was an enormously popular TV-series across the world when it first aired back in the early 1970s. I was quite excited actually since the star of that show is a relative of mine. Mr. Peter E. Deuel better known as Pete Duel. He was a very successful actor and that TV-show made him as famous as he is today, he had everything in his life but for some reason he committed suicide, he blew his brains out with a gun before he was finished working on the second season. He died after he had been acting in only 33 episodes of Alias Smith and Jones. But his memory still lives on in a lot of reruns, videos and DVDs. In fact he has become an American legend after his death. You all probably know who I am talking about.

Geoffrey Deuel.
During the time the show ran or if it was even earlier I can't remember now. I found out that Pete has a younger brother Geoffrey Jacob E. Deuel. Who has been acting with stars such as John Wayne. You could say I was a bit shocked seeing this actor who looks as if though he could be my own twin brother. My idea is that I'm going to try to meet this man in the future. I'd like to discuss our relations and my future series with him. As there were many things I didn't like in the original show that I now could change, and since I've always wanted to be an actor this is my big chance to become one.

The remake got started by me in 2003 merely as a test. I wanted to see how big the interest was. I'm still kinda amazed how smooth things were going, lots of actors, actresses were participating including some really big names, until the day that I was finally going to get the project into production the rejection/ignoring began, and that is why it's been taking sucha long time for me to put the remake together. People in today's society are simply too darn "rejective", as I say when someone is afraid to get involved and don't want to cooperate.

"Alias Smith and Jones is based on the very successful film 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid', starring Robert Redford and Paul Newman."
In 2004 the website was launched. The same year I made a quick acquaintance with a comedian from New York called Jay, we were going to go to Hollywood and put the remake together. He turned out to be a sick individual, I had to fire him, actually he fired himself. Shortly after that I met two African women from Nigeria. At first both were going to follow me to America. Eventually one of them backed out of the whole thing and was fired from the project because of jealousy. Then all of a sudden I found myself in a relationship with that other woman. We were going steady for approximately a year, from November 2004 to November 2005. She didn't seem to care about me and could do nothing but talk about money, it led to us breaking up. About the same month we broke up I contacted the copyright holder Universal only to later find out that the studio executives are assholes, they don't respond, it's their policy. Sending those e-mails and some invitation letters to my girlfirend became too much for me, I was near a nervous breakdown.

Brent Waffle.
By this time everything was in ruins. However I was dating my girlfriend again but only for less than a year this time. I eventually found out she was an Internet scam. Diane an established filmmaker from Minnesota had recently offered help with the remake, still nothing was happening. In the summer of 2006 I discovered a website that was going to change everything for me, MySpace it's called. Suddenly I found myself meeting filmmakers, actors etc. I even re-connected with Beyoncé whom I had lost contact with one year earlier. And like a gift from above, a new Kid Curry was found. Brent Thomas Waffle. The role of Kid Curry was originally going to be played by Tom Welling "Smallville", he never replied to me for some reason, big stars such as him usually never does. Just like Universal it seems to be their policy not to LOL. How foolish of him. I have also actually been quite displeased with my choice of casting Mr. Welling in the remake. He is simply too tall, too old and too muscular, and I know the old fans are going to hate that. I just wouldn't like to make them upset. Brent is an unknown young man from Indiana, USA. He do looks both a bit like Ben Murphy and Paul Newman. And who am I going to play? I am going to play Hannibal Heyes. As I don't think anyone else could do the part better than me the choice was easy to make.

James Hall.
I am currently working with James Hall an ex New Yorker and law enforcer who now lives in Tucson, Arizona, he has been acting in such films as The Wild Wild West starring Will Smith, he is my new partner after my other co-worker Diane Kelson backed out on me, she was unable to find investors for the project. I found James on MySpace. He promised he would take the project into production and that we were going to film a teaser trailer for the pilot episode in the summer of 2007. It was going to be screened exclusively for Universal. Something happened and he decided he should make an appointment with Universal instead while trying to sell Shattered Heroes a movie that he had been working on, that project was later put on hold to 2008 and nothing has proceeded with the remake since. Until December 2007 when I scrambled together a pilot script on my own in three weeks provided with

a few scenes from the pilot teaser which was written along with James' buddy John Ceallach. James more or less left me alone with the project after this and I had to reach out to production companies and producers on my own unaware that James and his buddy John Ceallach were continuing to promote the remake without my approval. After about six months I talked to James again in February 2008, he explained that he and John had been negotiating with some companies. A few of them had showed interest in the remake and were going to pick it up in about six months (fall 2008) and probably already would have if it wasn't for the recent strike in Hollywood who are now having their projects on hold for an unknown period of time.

Beyoncé Knowles.
Soon my long-time friend Beyoncé and I have planned to shoot a movie together in Sweden, a comedy musical, that I've been writing a script for, it's supposed to become her next big film after Cadillac Records and my first feature film. It's called HälsingeJävlar and is a manuscript that I wrote in 2006 to early 2007. It's based on my own life and inspired by a number of films that I've seen and not seen yet. On February 27th 2007 I completed the script. It has since been undergoing some changes. As it was originally planned to become a short film, I simply wrote too few pages and also did the mistake to write the whole thing in Swedish. None of the American actors were able to read it. It has therefore been translated to English and extended to the length of a feature film. At first I tried to sell the script to different production companies in Sweden, no one were interested in it, but did eventually find two people who were interested taking the project into production a director and a producer, the latter recently backed out. After that I was able to get a relatively big production company in Finland hooked on it, then a company in Norway, the negotiations cracked there too. Hälsinge Bastards was the script's original English title, it unfortunately got a bit lost in translation, so I renamed it to The Devils of Hälsingland.

Beyoncé Knowles and I have been friends for many years.
In 2009 I had given up the project due to lack of interest. HälsingeJävlar is not the only script I have had under development. In the past four years I've discovered a most interesting thing called drama. Which is a most popular thing among women in America and other parts of the world. It has inspired me with some ideas for a future manuscript that has been in the plans for quite a long time, a romantic drama musical that will most likely be based on my own life and star both Beyoncé and myself. Beyoncé too was the main inspiration while coming up with the idea. It is intended as the film that will bring Beyoncé her first and only Oscar. I am even planning that she is going to help me write a few pages along with some other professional writers.

Roger Davis.
While I was busy trying to put the musical together a company in Malibu, California found interest in the remake. A company that has actually something to do with "Smith and Jones". Lonetree Entertainment, which is a company that Roger Davis who played Hannibal Heyes in the original TV-series is working for. He is one of their producers. And that's not all many fans out there including myself have been eager to find out how Pete Duel and I am related to each other, so I thought it was time to take the pleasure of finally researching about it. I have always thought it would be nice to know the truth. I was convinced for a while that we could be fourth cousins, it turned out to be wrong, I found out we are in fact sixth cousins, straight decendants of a certain blacksmith who was born in the year 1726 and lived most of his life with his family in Värmland, Sweden.
|
My ancestor Lars Olof Larsson.
About the same time I began researching about another person, Lars Olof Larsson, my great great grandfather on my mother's side of the family. Who in 1913 emigrated from Harmånger in Sweden to the province of Saskatchewan in Canada and lived there practically all of his life without his Swedish wife and children, while making a living as a successful wheat farmer. The creator of Alias Smith and Jones Mr. Glen A. Larson is a complete copy of Lars Olof, almost twin-like and I therefore believe he could have had a secret family there. My family has always suspected it. It is also possible Glen is a descendant or offspring of Lars Olof's brother Johan Erik Larsson who also lived in Canada. He was supposed to emigrate there a year after his brother or perhaps Lars Olof's daughter Olga who came to live with her father in 1928. Larsson and Larson are not spelled the same way, what I have found out so far is that Lars Olof could as many emigrants of his generation had his name accidentally changed by the Canadians when arriving with the steamboat in Canada as I have only been able to find one person in a Canadian immigration database, that person's last name was spelled Larson. He could also had it changed willingly.

Glen Larson.
I have a dozen reasons and evidence to believe they are related in some way. And I doubt that they are only coincidences. Even Lars Olof's Swedish children looks like Glen. That is biologically not possible. On August 25th 2008 I met one of Glen's own friends on MySpace after I had been googeling for some pics of Glen, she said that she didn't know anything about his background except that he comes from Sweden and didn't want to get any deeper involved, which I thought was sad but the things she said helped me a lot since I didn't even know he was Swedish. He has never revealed that in the media as far as I know. Later that day I saw a post in a discussion forum in which a relative of him says that in 1986 Glen visited his mother's half brother in Karlskrona, Sweden. That is of course not my family but it's of a lof of help in my continued search for the truth. A few days later I found another forum on the Internet, some researchers are claiming that Glen's grandfather was named August Edvard Larsson. At first I believed my search could be over, but began collecting facts. It turned out they couldn't prove anything, they didn't even have a name for his father? As long as they don't know that nothing could link them together. Then in the spring of 2009 something unexpected happened I recieved an e-mail from a person who claimed to be a friend of Glen's son and wanted to help me to milk some information from the family. For months I waited for a reply but never heard back from this person again.

Beyoncé's manager Mathew Knowles.
Now when the remake is about to happen soon things should look bright for me. That's far from what is happening everything is to hell, Lonetree doesn't seem very interested helping me unless I ask Beyoncé some questions about her involvement which is easier said than done. So far I've failed with that. I have sent a number of e-mails that were never replied to and even made a call to Mathew's management who is Beyoncé's father on July 10th 2008. I talked to his assistant. I was not allowed to speak to him unless I revealed my identity and had to leave a message and a number so that he could call back which I'm sure he wouldn't after the way he's been ignoring my e-mails, so I could never reveal my identity. I have had numerous arguments with Beyoncé before and after this and she explain the whole thing by telling me she doesn't trust anyone outside of her own family and management including me and will only do business the old fashioned way, through the telephone via a reliable production company. I think Beyoncé is sucha diva sometimes LOL, because that's exactly what I have been trying to do.

Beyoncé Knowles as Sasha. Her diva alter-ego.
By the end of 2008 Beyoncé's management came out with the news that she was going out on tour in 2009. When the Meet and Greet packages were released in January I decided to buy one so that I could go there and talk to her. Then on May 13th 2009 it was finally time to meet her and this is where the story ends. I was also going there to try to make her sign a "letter of intent", one for each project during her stay, which is sort of an interest contract. Papers that some production companies and producers have asked for in the past. They lost interest almost immediately when they found out I had no such paper in handy. I wasn't able to make her sign any contracts after the show. But something magical happened there at the concert that has left me a bit clueless and confused. Since the negotiations cracked I had no other choice than to retire from my work to sit down and make some plans what to do next. I made the decision to try to sell the pilot script for the last time but unfortunately failed doing it. I was at that point forced to send a "letter of intent" to her management as a final cry-out for help. I gave her a deadline which she completely ignored. And now as of January 29, 2010 the remake is canceled. But it is far from doomed. Beyoncé and I are officially meeting each other again soon in 2010 or 2011. To sign some contracts, well who knows.
